Julia Bremble of Sew Curvy has been teaching corsetry from her beautiful woodland studio in West Oxfordshire for 3 years, and before that, in other venues around Oxfordshire. Over the last 5 years, many people have come from all over the world to learn corsetry with Julia, many have returned several times, and almost all of them have made firm friends with others on their courses and remain in touch with eachother, sharing tips and further learning as they go.
As we enter the fourth year of teaching corsetry from the Sew Curvy Studio, a pretty little cottage which is entirely dedicated to the art of corset making, the curriculum has expanded by popular demand to include more aspects of learning corsetry than are available anywhere else in the world in one place. Throughout the year, there are the staple classes in beginners corset making and intermediate corsetry and we have added a new class - advanced corsetry together with various masterclasses covering other specialised aspects of the craft including sheer corsetry, cupped corsetry, Edwardian corsetry and couture embellishment.

More advanced classes on corset patterning and draping are also listed as well as the internationaly renowned Oxford Conference of Corsetry which brings together corset makers of all levels from the world over, to share knowledge, learn, network and just have jolly good fun with like minded souls.
Some of the corsetry masterclasses listed on this site are taught in collaboration with other well known and successful corsetieres.
The Sew Curvy workshop is in a very central location, easily accessible by road via the A40 and only 5 miles away from Oxford. The workshop space is set amongst beautiful woodland in the grounds of Eynsham Park Estate. There is free parking, a range of lovely accommodation nearby, lunch and refreshments provided on each day. For specific location details and how to get to the studio from all over the world and information on accommodation and transport, please click here.
The Sew Curvy Studio is dedicated to corsets. From here, Julia Bremble runs three businesses, Sew Curvy Haberdashery, Clessidra, and the Oxford School of Corsetry. In this space therefore, you will be able to immerse yourself in all aspects of corset making, from looking at ready made couture samples at close hand, to leafing through the extensive collection of sewing and design books and when you've finished learning all about corsetry, you can buy supplies at discount to take home with you.
The courses listed on this site do not cover basic sewing skills. While some courses do not require high levels of sewing skill, students should be confident with a sewing machine and using a commercial dress pattern.
The cost of each corset making class is per person and includes venue hire, tuition, materials detailed in each product description, morning and afternoon refreshments and a delicious sandwich lunch (vegetarian to cover all).
Fees are non refundable* but in the event of cancellation may be used towards goods or the cost of a different course or workshop.
Upon booking, students will receive a booking confirmation upon check out. Specific course joining notes are then sent out a week or so before the start date of each corsetry workshop.
*Cancellation policy: Fees are non refundable upon cancellation but may be redeemed against alternative dates/courses before the end of that current financial year (end March). For courses cancelled up to 1 month prior, fees are not refundable or transferable unless the space can be re-sold. Courses cancelled within 7 days will not be refunded. Sew Curvy retains the right to cancel or defer a course up to 7 days prior to the start date. In the unlikely event of this happening alternative dates or a refund will be offered. In the event that an alternative date is booked, then the cancellation policy comes back into force from date of booking.
